Mike qualified as a solicitor in 1981. Following qualification, Mike initially went into practice in the commercial property world in the North West of England. He relocated to Towcester shortly thereafter in 1982. Mike Thomson became a Partner in the renowned law firm, Shoosmiths & Harrison in 1986. He remained a partner at the firm until 1990 when he co-founded Arnold Thomson with his former partner, James Arnold in 1990. Mike has since dedicated his career to Agricultural Law, Rural Business as well as private clients.

In whatever spare time there is, Mike is quite the farmer himself and commences his days with livestock duties first thing every morning at home. As professional as they come, Mike is also very personable and is known for his astonishing dry sense of humour.
