Matt joined the Firm in 2002 and became a Director in 2007. He is the Firm’s Senior Director and Head of Legal Practice.
Matt’s expertise and experience lie in non-contentious property matters affecting farmers and landowners, with specific focus on strategic development projects (advising on option and promotion agreements, as well as development land sales), and overage agreements. He also specialises in advising clients on succession planning strategies, such as partnership agreements.
Matt is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and Country Land and Business Association. He is ranked as a leading individual in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.
The Legal 500 describes Matt as an “excellent communicator with exemplary attention to detail and extensive knowledge of agricultural property law”
While Chambers & Partners UK recognised that Matt is “adept at advising farmers and landowning clients on rural transactions as well as development and tenancy issues”
Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his family (trying to keep up with his two young daughters!), watching Northampton Saints and coaching rugby at his local club Towcestrians RFC.
